Just enjoy working it out.

2) What was so special about this record breaking race

Answer: Ok, maybe I should’ve given a little more direction than just asking what was special about this race. What I was looking for was -
Donovan Bailey broke the previous Olympic record of 9.92 seconds by virtue of having broken the world record itself (this after one of the worst starts for a sprinter ever). But what is even more interesting is the fact that Frank Fredericks and Ato Boldon who finished 2nd and 3rd respectively also finished inside of the previous Olympic record of 9.92 seconds. First and probably the only instance of this happening.
The timings for one of the closest races ever are as follows
Bailey – 9.84 secs
Fredericks – 9.89 secs
Boldon – 9.90 secs

Previous World record – 9.85 – Leroy Burrell
Previous Olympic record – 9.92 Carl Lewis
