The stage two was cracked by only one person. Please find below answers and scores
Hello world,
A slight twist in the proceedings this time. As usual, ten questions – all answers connect to a theme (Or a “Stage Two” in this case). Only this time I won’t tell you what the theme is, you gotta crack the stage 2 yourself. More points at stake. In addition to a point each for a correct answer(1 x 10), you get two 5 points if you crack the theme.
Let’s get rolling
1. In the year 2007 India and the U.S entered into a rather strange agreement that took the two countries back to the good old days of barter trading. The U.S allowed a certain exotic Indian item/product to be exported to it’s shores after a gap of 18 years and in return demanded that an item of it’s own be allowed entry into the Indian market by clearing the “roadblocks in it’s path”. It was unusual as the two were as differenet as “apples” and “oranges”. What were the two items?
Answer: Mangoes for Harley Davidson
The deal, ultimately, did not materialize as Harley Davidson decided that with 90% extra tax on their bikes, nobody in India would wanna buy it.
Connect. (The first pic is that of a shortlived comics superhero)
Answer: This one was for all you X-Men fans out there. The connection is THUNDERBIRD
First pic is that of a superhero called Thunderbird who was breifly part of the X-Men.
The second picture is ofcourse the mythical bird worshipped by the Red Indians
Achiah is the only one who got this right.
The name of the label in the first pic was inspired by the item in the second picture. Name the label.
Answer: Perfecto
The Cigar in the pic is a Perfecto Cigar which was the inspiration behind naming the label so.
Perfecto made black leather motorcycle jackets sported, over the years, by Fonz, The Ramones, John Travolta in Grease and Peter Fonda in Easy Rider among others
4. Val Kilmer’s ability to slip easily into Jim Morrison’s voice landed him the lead role in Oliver Stone’s biopic, The Doors (When Val went for the auditions with a tape of him singing some of the Doors famous numbers, Stone couldn’t tell his voice from Jim’s). A little known fact is that this abilty of his cost him the top billing in another movie (he is said to have badly wanted to play the leading man). Instead he was cast in a minor supporting role, playing another rock star appearing in the protagonists imagination. He had had to go through 8 hours of make-up for the role though his face was hidden from the camera throughout the movie. Name the movie and the role played by him.
Answer: Elvis Presley in True Romance
5. _______ was written specifically for the U.S market as the band felt that the main theme of the song was still considered a luxury for teens in their country in the 60s. Though overshadowed by other songs in the album when it was released, today it’s considered one of their finest works. It was musically heavily influenced by Arthur Alexander’s style (for the uninitiated, he’s the singer of “Soldier of Love”, famously covered by Pearl Jam, among others). What song?
Answer: All I’ve Got to Do (Is call you on the phone) by Beatles. I’m being generous and have decided to award a point to anyone who’s mentioned Beatles, as that is the connection with the Stage II
6. It took one style icon to cause X to almost vanish from the market in the 30s (though some believe this is just an urban legend), and seventeen years later another to bring it right back in outta nowhere when it was flaunted in a manner quite unconventional at that time. The sales soared and so did the second actor’s reputation as a trend setter. What’s X and who’s the second actor, the first one being a certain Clarke Gable.
Answer: Marlon Brando, T – shirts (especially those round neck ones).
Such T-shirts were mainly used as undershirts (Baniyaan) until Clarke Gable decided to flant his bare chest in “It happened one Night”. But Brando wore this innerwear throughout the movie “A Streetcar Named Desire” and made it an outerware. Connection is Brando
7. Identify the actor in the right, and name the movie for which he won a Golden Globe
Part points for each of the correct answers. Your answers have to be accurate
Answer: James Franco, playing the title role in the movie “James Dean”
8. A famous movie quote mouthed by Jack Nicholson was inspired by the opening lines of an even more famous TV show. What quote?
Answer: Heeeere’s Johnny, inspired by the Johnny Carson show. A lot of them went with “You can’t handle the truth”.
9.
Identify the movie
Answer: The man who shot Liberty Valance
10. This rock band was originally called The Elements when it started in the late 90s but soon changed it’s name to something else, on realizing that there was already a band with that name. What did the band change its name to?
Answer: BRMC – Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
The Wild One
Will post the individual connections later. Damn sleepy..
You can check this link, you’ll find most of the connects here
Ok, Here’s how each one connects to the theme
(Not in any order)
Elvis – Was a huge fan of Johnny, the character played by Brando and grew his iconic sideburns just like those of Johhny in the movie
Thunderbird – Johnny owns a Triumph Thunderbird in the movie
James Dean – Yet another fan. He himself bought a Triumph thunderbird and modeled his ‘rebel without a cause’ persona after Brando’s character
Man who shot Liberty Valance – The title role was played by Lee Marvin who is the rival biker gang’s leader in The WIld One
Beatles – Lee Marvin’s biker gang are called the Beatles. It is beleived that this is one of the inspirations for the band’s name as a scene from the movie is sampled in the Beatles Anthology
Harley – The Beatles gang ride Harleys
Black Rebel Motorcycle Gang – Rock band was named after Brando’s Biker Gang
Perfecto – I’ve mentioned a few names that sported Perfecto leather jackets. The first one to do so, or atleast to have started the trend, was Brando. He put in some of his own innovations like decorating his perfecto with stars.

Fantastic site, I really like your writing style. Very distinctive and easy to follow. On a lot of blogs people just drone on and on, but not you – very nice. Please take a look at my comedy blog at http://www.DomainB.org and let me know what you think of it. Keep up the excellent work!
It is a tremandous style present by you in front of people because no one can thought in this sense of puzzle. And to check the talent of people in this field.
